Bridging
The Gap 1
800mm x 1000mm Merrin Westerink lived in East Takaka, Golden Bay for thirty years and developed her painting through a background of craftwork, weaving, applique, leatherwork and sculpture. The progression through these media left her with an appreciation of texture and colour and influenced her painting style to reflect that. Merrin passed away at home in October 2006. She left her indelible mark on Golden Bay with her works of art, her teaching and her involvement in a multitude of community causes.

Bridge
Over Troubled Waters
760mm x 600mm "These paintings explore the theme of horizons - they are mythical landscapes. They represent our inner journeys or quests - dreams to be realised travelling both physically and spiritually to new places and ways of being - seeking a wider vision." Merrin Westerink |
